AGU sessions advance TPE science activities and collaborations

By admin - Posted on 03 January 2012

A strong showing among scientists from around the world interested in the Third Pole resulted in a successful outcome at the annual AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco, USA. TPE sponsored Session C02, ‘A Paleo-Perspective of the Third Pole Environment (TPE): Past, Present and Future’ and Session GC17 ‘Regional Climate Impacts: Lake Sediments and Monsoon Variability in the Third Pole Region’. During the oral and poster sessions, renowned scientists presented their latest results and discussed future research directions. The conference also presented the opportunity for student involvement and increased international collaborations. Sessions were centered on the themes of environmental interactions, feedbacks, modeling, and data validation. This is the second year of TPE’s session sponsorship at AGU, and the record conference attendance (exceeding 20,000) aids in the global awareness of TPE and will advance the program goals into the coming year.
